The Journey has just begun

You get on a caravan of other men going to fight in the Holy Land, and the you know the trip will be long and uncomfortable but you are willing to go along if it means you can reclaim the Holy Land for christianity. The fighting was specifically over Jerusalem which is a major point in both the Muslim and Christian religions at the time, the muslims controlled the city and the christians tried many times to get it back, the first and the third crusades being the most successful. The Muslims however won all 7 of the other crusades with many different leaders.

one week later

You awake to yelling and loud clanking noises coming from up ahead, you and the other man hop off your horses and tie them near. You get your armor on and run to the battlefield, it is unlike anything you have ever seen! There are many men fighting against each other with no mercy you think that there must be at least 10,000 men fighting however your heart sinks as you notice that there must be nearly 20,000 dead on the ground... Yet one of these men on the ground stands out to you... his armor is familiar... Almost like an old friends..

You stop, you've just realized who it is. In all his knightly glory sword next to him hand over his chest you realize...        it's Gabe

You run to him and roll him over, HE IS STILL ALIVE! But he is badly wounded...

Gabe: Logan! How did you come to this forsaken battlefield?

Logan: Do not talk you are hurt! I need to get you to the sisters back in Jaffa...

Gabe: No, it is too late for me

Gabe's blood is all over your cuirass an you have dropped your sword. Gabe, dying, in your arms uses his last breath to tell you his secret

Gabe: I have a son

His body has gone limp and just as Father Freeman's dreams foretold, you have blood on your armor, the holy sword is next to you and the missing part of the dream is a dead body, Gabe's.

Memories of Gabe fresh in your mind you draw your sword and gather a group to fall back and plan

Richard: What has happened? Where is Gabe?

Logan: Gabe is dead and we need a new plan!

Richard: CURSE THESE TURKS. WE MUST WIN. FOR GABE!

Rest of the troops: FOR GABE!

You and the men form a plan worthy of God himself. You say one final prayer and then head into the battle.

Just as you and your party approach the city doors however the portcullis is blocking you from getting in. The portcullis was a large metal grate that covered the entrances to castles and other important buildings or place (like jerusalem) The Portcullis would be raised and just as some men began to walk in two other men would release it dropping it on the attacker's heads and not only killing them, but blocking the entrance as well.

Saladin: HOLD YOUR MEN!

Richard: Men, stay back we must hear what the honorable Saladin has to say

Saladin: I propose we form a truce, this fighting will go on as long as we both have loyal men on our sides and in our towns.

Richard: I believe we can indeed Sir Saladin.

and for years to come Jerusalem was a holy city that both religions could enjoy. However you remember Gabe's last words. "I have a son.." You realize that he must have meant that he wanted you to train his son in becoming a knight, and then it becomes clear to you. The journey has just begun.
